    The Slovak Language

    • Slovak is natively known as Slovenčina and belongs to the Indo-European, Slavic, West Slavic language family.
    • There are approximately 5.2 million native speakers worldwide.
    • Slovak is the official language of Slovakia and is mutually intelligible to a high degree with Czech, though the two have been separate standard languages since the 19th century.
    • Slovak has three grammatical genders, six cases, and preserves a number of features from Old Church Slavonic.
    • The Slovak language played a central role in the Slovak national revival of the 19th century, when \xc4\xbdudov\xc3\xadt \xc5\xa0t\xc3\xbar standardised the modern literary language.
    • Slovakia has a strong tradition of folk culture and the Slovak language has many dialect variations, broadly divided into western, central, and eastern groups.
    • Slovak uses a rhythmic rule (rhythmick\xc3\xbd z\xc3\xa1kon) that prevents two long syllables from appearing in sequence, a feature unique among Slavic languages.
    • The Slovak community in Australia is small, with several thousand Slovak-born residents. Historical migration included post-WWII displaced persons and refugees after the 1968 Prague Spring. Many early migrants were recorded as Czechoslovak. Communities exist in Melbourne and Sydney with active Slovak social clubs and cultural organisations.

    About Brookvale

Brookvale translation servicesBrookvale is a suburb of northern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Brookvale is 16 kilometres north-east of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of Warringah Council. It is part of the Northern Beaches region.

The first development in the area was in 1836 when 64 hectares of farmland was granted to William Frederick Parker. In this period further land was sold to the Malcolm, Burns and Miles families. In 1883, Sydney Alexander Malcolm built what became known as 'Brookvale House'. It eventually was sold in 1961 to the Hooker Investment Corporation paving the way for the construction of Warringah Mall, which is the largest shopping complex in the area.
