Our translation process ensures that all characters are correctly rendered and that the final document maintains professional formatting suitable for submission to government agencies, courts, and immigration authorities.

All NAATI-certified Bosnian translations from Sydney Translation include the translator's NAATI stamp, signature, and certification number. Learn more about our NAATI translation services and how certification works.

    The Bosnian Language

    • Bosnian is natively known as Bosanski jezik and belongs to the Indo-European, Slavic, South Slavic language family.
    • There are approximately 2.5 million native speakers worldwide.
    • Bosnian is one of three official languages of Bosnia and Herzegovina, alongside Croatian and Serbian, though all three are mutually intelligible and were historically considered one language (Serbo-Croatian).
    • Bosnian can be written in both the Latin and Cyrillic alphabets, though the Latin script is predominant among Bosniak communities.
    • The language reflects Bosnia's multicultural heritage, incorporating loanwords from Turkish, Arabic, and Persian due to centuries of Ottoman rule.
    • Bosnian uses the ijekavian pronunciation system as its standard, distinguishing it from Serbian which predominantly uses ekavian.
    • Nobel Prize-winning author Ivo Andrić, born in Bosnia, wrote "The Bridge on the Drina" set in Višegrad — a landmark of South Slavic literature.
    • Australia received over 25,000 Bosnian refugees during and after the Yugoslav Wars of the 1990s, making it one of the largest Bosnian diaspora communities in the world. Communities are concentrated in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Adelaide, with active mosques, cultural associations, and Bosnian-language media.

    About Mascot

Mascot is a suburb in south-eastern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Mascot is located 7 kilometres south of the Sydney central business district and is the administrative centre of the City of Botany Bay. Mascot is on the north-west side of Botany Bay and contains Sydney Airport.

The first land grants in the area were made in 1835, with market gardening being the main land use. Subdivision followed the construction of Botany Road in 1875 and a municipality known as North Botany was formed in 1888. A racecourse operated in this area in 1904 on land that was formerly owned by the Australia Golf Club. The race course was known as Ascot, named after its famous counterpart in England. Residents wanted the area to have an individual identity and a referendum was held in 1911 to choose between Mascot, Boronia and Booralee. In 1920, Mascot was chosen as the site of a public airfield. Nigel Love was leasing 200 acres (0.81 km2) from the Kensington Race club and in 1921 the Commonwealth Government purchased 161 acres (0.65 km2) for this purpose. The first regular flights began in 1924. Cooks River was diverted away from the area in 1947-52 to provide more land for the airport.
